Stay safe in the forum and on the internet:
1) Report abuse
If you read a post that is offensive, abusive, a personal attack or breaks the forum guidelines in any way, click on the ‘Report Abuse’ link at the bottom of every message. The forum moderators will then deal with the problem.
2) Stay anonymous
Use a nickname or just your first name when chatting online. Don’t give out any personal details in the forum or in your forum profile. This includes your surname, address, phone numbers, where you live, go to school, college or work and links to online profiles that include your personal details. Don’t use the names of family, friends or people you know when you are talking on the forum. When someone asks where you’re from only tell them the region (saying the north west instead of Donegal, or Northern Ireland instead of Derry).
3) Don’t trust!
Not everyone is who they appear to be online. Be very wary of people who want to meet you or ask for your phone number/ email address/ bebo page. If someone constantly asks for personal details, ignore or block them. Don’t meet up with anyone you met online unless you are with an adult.
